Thank You for Your Cervix moms!

It’s an odd and sickly society we live in. It has always struck me as odd that we’re conditioned to thank service members for their service. I understand the risks many have taken, putting their lives on the line and so many more, who we’ll never be able to thank, are gone. I get it and I can only imagine how devastating it would be to lose a child. War is a horrible human endeavor, and definitely the worst and most barbaric activity that we actually cosign, if not directly, them implicitly.

Some of us have feared an Orwellian future, and today it has arrived. It’s not the way most of us pictured it. In a touch of irony, 1984 is still on most high school reading assignments.

These days, the overlords have nothing to fear from Orwell. Technology now makes it possible for our leaders to shape our thoughts and to condition its citizens to keep each other “in line”. Even the word “think” has lost its meaning, when the minds of those who speak it are state controlled through the influence of Fox, CNN and MSNBC or local news outlets. All of the above along with all major newspapers and magazines are owned by a handful of mega corps who are comingled with our government. It’s an ugly situation.

I have to admit, I don’t know much and I forget most of what I did know, but 65 years on this planet have given me one predominant impression. It’s past time for humans to grow.

Through science and our technical capabilities, we’ve created some items that we are not equipped to have and use responsibly. Among them are the Internet, gene splicing and nuclear bombs. It’s like a drunken 12-year-old driving a school bus or a scarred 16-year-old with a high-powered rifle. You just know disaster is looming.

In the bleakest of times, I’ve always fallen back on trusting the wisdom of those in control, whether politicians, corporate leaders, scientists, etc. But as it has turned out, they’ve shown they’re not worthy of that trust. It’s painfully obvious they’re all blinded by greed and are bound to drive us off a deadly cliff before too long.

We’ve devolved into a corporatocracy, and the only priority of the corporate mindset is profit and not life or the planet, not the soul or general wellbeing. This is why we are all implored to make a special effort to thank our service members. And it all seems perfectly normal.

So, given that we all would like to stick around as long as possible here, why don’t we shift to a more life-affirming stance? How about moms? Maybe we can initiate a course correction by encouraging “thank you’s” for them. They are the life givers after all. We all came from one and we wouldn’t be here without them. Wouldn’t that make more sense?

I have no idea how we can get out of this mess, but that might be a good start.
