Light and Darkness

Within me, a partition,

sits dead center

Or so it seems,

From what I can tell.

On one side is all I know

Of this material world

The other side is

A complete mystery.

Yet I need not know

Its particulars,

All I need to know is

That it IS, and

All that’s required of me,

My only obligation

Is to face the unknown

Without fear or trepidation

This is my debt

To the darkness.

It’s what’s expected of me

Because I’m one with it.

For there’s nothing

In the unknown

That is not also

At home within me.
